Apache OpenOffice (AOO) early known as OpenOffice.org, is developed for Linux, macOS, and Windows, with ports to other operating systems, is an open-source office productivity software suite like LibreOffice. It contains a word processor (writer), spreadsheet (Calc), presentation (impress), graphics (draw), formula editor, and database management(base) applications. OpenOffice also includes a vector graphics editor (Draw), and a mathematical formula creator (Math).

Apache OpenOffice’s default file format is the OpenDocument Format (ODF), it is multilingual, works on all known computers, stores data in ODF, the international open standard format and is able to read and write files on other formats, including the format used by the most common office suite packages. OpenOffice can also export files in PDF format. OpenOffice has supported extensions, in a similar manner to Mozilla Firefox, making easy to add new functionality to an existing OpenOffice installation.

Apache OpenOffice is fully cross-compatible with Microsoft Office, supporting all major formats including docx, xlsx, pptx, and more. It also makes use of its own OpenDocument format. It supports operating systems like x86 versions of Microsoft Windows XP or later, Linux (32-bit and 64-bit), and Mac OS X 10.7 or later.
