Muting an Instagram Story

Option 1 – Quick and Simple

This is the simplest option if you’ve muted a story but can’t remember the username or if you’re unsure that you’ve even muted a story:

Scroll to the right on the story feed at the top of the screen and locate any greyed-out profile icons.

Long press the profile picture in question.

Tap Unmute.

I’m done now. When you do this, your Instagram news feed will immediately reload with your friend’s content.

Option 2 – Going to Their Profile

You can unmute someone if you know who you muted by going to their profile. Follow these steps to unmute someone from their profile:

Enter their username to access their profile by tapping the magnifying glass at the bottom of the screen. Once you’ve found it, proceed as follows:

Locate Following and tap it.

Tap Mute.

Toggle the switches from blue to grey.

Reporting an Instagram Story

You can report a story to the developers if you believe it violates Instagram’s terms of service. This is a private way to remove the content. Another choice at your disposal is to report a story, regardless of whether it is illegal, violent, threatening, or spam.

To notify Instagram of any posted content that you believe to be inappropriate, follow these instructions:
