Why has my account been suspended or disabled?
If you cannot sign in to your RealVNC account (either online, or in VNC Viewer or VNC Server), it may be that we’ve have had to suspend your account.
This is likely due to EU data protection regulations (GDPR, effective May 2018), which state you must be at least 16 years of age before we can store personally identifiable information about you. If we’re not sure, we’ve taken the precaution of suspending your account.
If you are over 16, then you can reinstate your account simply by entering your email address and password to sign in as normal, and then selecting the I am over the age of 16 checkbox.
If you are not able to confirm your age, then unfortunately we shall shortly have to delete your account. Perhaps you could consider getting a parent, teacher or guardian to sign up for a new account on your behalf.
How do I remove a person from a team?
To remove a person you’ve previously invited in to your team:
- Sign in to your RealVNC account.
- Navigate to the People page.
- Locate the person and choose Remove from team from the … shortcut menu.
This person will no longer be able to see the team or connect to any of that teams computers. In most circumstances, there’s no further action to take.
Note that if you:
- Have an Enterprise subscription that includes device access
- Install VNC Connect on a particular remote computer
- Only establish direct connections to that computer
…then you should additionally remove the person from the list of registered VNC Server users for that computer. Until you do, this person will still be able to establish direct connections.
How do I remove a remote computer from a Team?
Using the VNC Connect portal
To remove a remote computer you’ve previously added to your team:
- Sign in to your RealVNC account.
- Navigate to the Computers page.
- Locate the computer and choose Remove from team from the … shortcut menu.
Team members will no longer be able to establish cloud connections to this computer. You can now uninstall VNC Connect, install it on a different computer, and apply your subscription there instead.
If you have an Enterprise subscription, people can still establish direct connections to the computer. To prevent this, make sure you uninstall VNC Connect.
Using the command line (Enterprise only)
Run the appropriate command (below) on the computer to be removed from the team.
Note: the command must be run with Administrator privilege.

What’s new:
- In order to connect to remote computers, you must enter two separate sets of credentials; your RealVNC account email address and password to sign in, and then the system (username and) password expected by VNC Server to authenticate. It should now be clearer which set you have to enter when.
- FIXED: Usernames that contain $ are now saved correctly.
- FIXED: Holding down SHIFT or CTRL while pressing a mouse button now affects remote Linux computers running the Gnome 3 desktop environment correctly.
