How to use Hikvision SADP software?

1. SADP Installation

The Hikvision SADP tool, packed in a WinZIP archive, is available on the Hikvision website or download.zone.

After downloading it onto your computer, unzip the file and begin the installation process. Before running the application, it is necessary to install WinPcap first. WinPcap is a set of libraries for Windows that allows access to network packets, bypassing the upper network layers.

You can download WinPcap here:

WinPcap is the industry-standard tool for link-layer network access in Windows environments. It enables applications to capture and transmit network packets bypassing the protocol stack and offers additional features such as kernel-level packet filtering, a network statistics engine, and support for remote packet capture.

2. Searching for active devices

After starting the program SADP scans the network automatically to find connected devices showing them in the main window. The list of connected devices updates every 15 seconds while the disconnected devices list updates every 45 seconds. Users can manually refresh the list of devices by clicking on the [Refresh] button. In the window essential information, about device network parameters is displayed, including device type, IP address, communication ports, gateway, mask, MAC address and more. Additional details like device firmware version, name and number and activation status are also shown. By selecting [Save as excel] all this information can be saved as an.xls file, for purposes. The program makes it easy for users to access the device login window by clicking on a device to open it in a web browser automatically.

3. Activating devices with SADP.

When Hikvision NVRs, with firmware version above V3.3.0 and cameras with version above V5.3.0 are first connected to the network they appear as “Inactive” on the SADP app. This is part of security measures by Hikvision to prevent access. To activate a device users need to set a password for the “account. This can be done during the login via a web browser through the SADP app or directly from the NVR itself. To activate a device using SADP;

  1. In the SADP app choose a device (or multiple devices at once that need activation, with the password).
  2. Confirm a password by clicking OK.

  2. If you select DHCP (make sure both the device and router support DHCP) you can only change the SDK port (default; 8000) and HTTP port (default; 80). The DHCP server automatically assigns network parameters, like IP address, subnet mask and gateway. IPv6 addressing is also an option if supported by the devices.
  3. If DHCP is not enabled you can manually modify all parameters such, as IP address, subnet mask and gateway.
  4. To confirm your changes input the device password and click on the Save button.
