Reality Capture is a quick, dependable, and incredibly accurate software for generating 3D material from photographs or laser scans. This 3D modeling app was designed from the ground up to take full advantage of all modern photogrammetry procedures, and it has quickly become one of the most widely used tools for the creation of 3D assets for modern video games, VR games and projects, realistic 3D visualization of real-world environments, and even large 3D maps created from surveyor UAV laser scan data.
What is Reality Capture?
Reality Capture is a photogrammetry software solution that helps you create 3D models from photographs or laser scans. Reality Capture vastly improves productivity, accuracy, quality, and safety throughout the project.
This app is not intended just for professional users with access to large photo camera setups capable of capturing simultaneous object data from many perspectives. No, this app can even generate 3D objects or settings by analyzing images and video data captured by standard cameras. The whole process of reproducing real-world things into 3D models with Reality Creation may become part of your workflow thanks to a big online community of creators, simple and straightforward UI, and numerous online training.
The 3D Modeling software for PC has an automatic 3D model generation process (with automatic alignment, registration, and calibration), built-in texture coloring, tools for 3D model touching up and reconstruction, 3D model exporting support, and much more. This software creator ensured that this software can handle screens of limitless model size, effortlessly managing even billions of triangles with clever LOD rendering service, and dumping superfluous data out of active RAM allocation to best serve the demands of its huge audience.
The Premium version of the app is accessible via monthly or quarterly subscription that unlocks access to all upcoming updates and support for up to 2500 images scan per single 3D model. The app can also be tested via the free demo version that places restrictions on the model export tools.

Reality Capture 3D Modeling App For Windows PC
Using hardware such as a laser scanners or camera-mounted UAVs, a site is scanned and a detailed set of data or “points” is captured for further processing.
Using Reality Capture software, scan data is automatically registered, stitched into a coordinate system, cleaned up, and analyzed. The final product is a point cloud or meshes ready for CAD and BIM authoring tools.
Design with confidence knowing that your base information is a model of up-to-date data of actual site conditions, whether on a building renovation or large-scale infrastructure project.

Reality Capture Software For Windows FAQs
How To Generate Optimal Normal Maps In Reality Capture On Simplified Models?
Normal maps are an excellent way to fake detail from very high polygon models onto models with simplified or decimated geometry.
The easiest way to generate a normal map in RealityCapture is to enable normal reprojection in the simplify tool:
This is the perfect way to generate a normal map if you are only going to do one stage of simplification straight from your highest detailed model to your final simplified model. In this case, the software deisgner generated a model of 20,000 triangles, with a perfectly normal map to fake all of the lost surface detail from the original model. You can view your normal map by dragging it onto a 2D view. You can also view it on the model in 3D view by clicking the eye next to it:
There are situations where more than one simplification step is used, and in these situations, the simplify tool might not generate an optimal normal map.
Can I Use Ultra Wide Angle Lens Images For Realitycapture?
The software developer does not recommend using the ultra-wide-angle lens for photogrammetry in RC, because even though the specifications of the lens may be written “zero distortion lens”, it does not refer to the perspective distortion of an ultra-wide-angle. The stretches on the sides of the image and compressions near the middle can cause bad alignment results.
I See An Empty Space In My Texture, What Is It And Why Is It There?
The factor that makes changes to this effect is the Unwrap, specifically its utilization. Select a model in RC and a “Selected model(s)” window will appear. Access the Texturing menu in there and you will notice a parameter called Texture utilization (with gutter).
