Nestopia is a very good NES Emulator with very high accuracy. It is capable of playing most games without any trouble. Nestopia has features like texture scaling and netplay. It has been the most popular Emulator on this site (and in general) for a long while.
What is NES Emulator?
This software can let you play those all-time favorite Nintendo games by emulating video gaming console on your PC and other devices.
“Emulation without revelation is rarely profitable.”
This emulator supports all the games, made so far for the NES, and to be precise it is compatible with a whopping 290 titles. Furthermore, Mesen is considered the most accurate NES emulator for Windows.
A neat advantage is that you don’t need to install the application, which means you can keep it on a removable storage device along with your game collection. Since most such games support multiple players, portability provides you with a virtual console that can fit in your pocket.
It allows the customization of colors, sounds, and graphics. It includes special features such as Power Glove. Brandon Widdler of trending considers the emulator one of the best for the NES, though he admits that it has fewer features than its rival FCEUX.
The original developer halted the development of Nestopia in 2008. Another developer has continued work on it since, as “Nestopia UE” (Undead Edition). Nestopia is also available as Libretro core (for RetroArch).
While Nestopia holds up reasonably well for its age, these days there are emulators with higher accuracy and a friendlier interface, like Mesen.
Nestopia UE has its fair share of features and customizing options. It supports many external devices, supports in-app recording, offers multiplayer support, and auto-saving feature.
Those trying out this emulator have to deal with option sync. The problem is, when you turn this option off, you will experience screen tearing, and when it is on, you have to bear with a slow input lag.
